What are we looking for?

As part of the clear principle to maintain quality and outcomes when delivering change, Withers are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a team of project management professionals in the Change Projects/PMO team to cover a period of maternity leave.

The Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for a full range of activities including but not limited to; business planning; developing project proposals in line with strategic goals, performing impact assessments; determining benefits and developing the business case; requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, prioritisation and management; process mapping; process improvement; stakeholder engagement and relationship management; managing change, supporting delivery and communication.

Areas of focus and responsibilites

  • Maintain an understanding of the Firms strategy, operations and business structure
  • Develop proposals articulating project benefits, strategic alignment, impacts, options and recommendations.  Assist in the preparation of the business case
  • Estimate resource requirements and effort necessary to perform BA activities
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases/scenarios, business analysis, process and workflow analysis
  • Identify solution options including organisation, process and/or systems and make recommendations based on the analysis of those options
  • Interpret client needs, determining how they fit into global priorities and managing expectations by building collaborative relationships
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Collaborate with IT and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs
  • Documentation preparation, including business requirements, use-cases, wireframes, functional specifications, communications and training documents and communicate those with other functions e.g. development, testing and training teams
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with Withers staff and external suppliers to analyse information needs and functional requirements
  • Competently present to an audience either orally or in written materials, with the ability to get a point across whilst listening to others
  • Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project managers
  • Proactively seek process improvements – including global policies or procedures, as well reporting and use of systems, with the aim of improving accuracy, consistency and efficiency
  • Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language
  • Act as liaison between Divisions, Business Services and Project Teams

Qualifications required and experience in sector

You have a BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis or equivalent and preferably a Prince 2 or other project management qualification.

Ideally you will have worked in a similar legal environment for a few years, or in a medium to large professional organisation as a Business Analyst.
