About Withersworldwide

A law firm focused on people and collaboration. For the past 125 years, Withers has supported some of the world's most remarkable people and organisations at defining moments in their lives. We are the only international law firm focused on successful individuals and private capital, working closely with founders, investors and family offices. We also advise governments, charities, global brands and start-ups of all shapes and sizes. Many of our clients are shaping the future and creating solutions to tackle many of the world's problems.  It makes for a fascinating and challenging practice. Our role is to get to know each individual client, find out where they want to be, and help them to get there – whether they are building a business, looking after their family, involved in a complex dispute or protecting their finances for the future. To meet their unique needs we are exceptionally collaborative, working together across teams and time zones. We are agile, focusing on strategy rather than rigid ideas and traditional hierarchy. It is a truly flexible working culture that puts people first. Join us to be part of a team that is always looking to the future. Where initiative, big ideas and bold moves are always encouraged. Where you can truly be yourself.

The Real Estate Disputes team

Withers' real estate disputes team currently comprises five fee earners, and the team is expanding. Accordingly, we have an opportunity for an additional lawyer to join the team in our London office. The team sits within the real estate team and is a core part of the business division - it is a busy and dynamic practice. The team is led by partner, Owen Talfan Davies, who for the last decade has been consistently ranked as a 'leading individual' by Legal 500 in the field of property litigation – he is also ranked by Legal 500 as a 'leading individual' in the professional negligence practice area (for his real estate-led claimant professional negligence work). Our growing property litigation practice has stand-alone clients, as well as clients in common with the rest of the firm; the team is involved with exciting and cutting-edge property-related disputes.

The role

This role will require someone with a confident communication style, with the desire to become a leading property litigator, and with strong commercial acumen. There are very good career progression opportunities for the successful candidate, to take on responsibility and gain exposure to a wide breadth of work. The work will include day-to-day responsibility for a varied and interesting caseload. The successful candidate will have direct contact with clients and will be required to assist with a busy caseload, which will include dealing with both contentious and potentially contentious matters from their start through to a conclusion. This is within a very supportive environment, with hands-on supervision.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive.  It is intended to describe the general content and requirements for the performance of this job and, as such, the role may include the undertaking of additional tasks as required.
