The Role

For our Private Client and Tax team in Milan, we are seeking a well-organised and driven Trainee Lawyer (praticante avvocato) or Trainee CPA (praticante commercialista).

The successful candidate will be a key member of the team from the start, working closely with senior colleagues on both domestic and international taxation matters, delving into topics both closely related to private clients (HNWIs) and corporate tax. He/she will learn how to provide comprehensive and innovative assistance to corporations and HNWIs by identifying the most effective tax provisions for each requisition.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Conducting legal research
  • Drafting tax and legal memos
  • Helping with business development activities, supporting the preparation of pitches and tenders
  • Managing, reviewing and analysing documents
  • Organising meetings, taking calls, taking messages, managing emails, and other forms of proactive and efficient communication with clients, legal staff, and other support staff
  • Assisting with client events
  • Producing accurate, high-quality work quickly and efficiently, utilising the firm's software packages and document management systems
  • Upon request, preparing first drafts of terms of engagement letters; using electronic file opening, ensuring AML requirements are adhered to and requesting necessarily Know Your Client documentation
  • Other general administrative tasks

Key skills and experience

  • Graduate in Law or Economics
  • Outstanding academic record (at least 102/110)
  • Fluency in both Italian and English is required for communication (a C1 level of English is required)
  • Prior work experience in corporate tax and/or post-graduate master's degree in taxation are considered a nice to have
  • Knowledge of both domestic and international tax issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and engaged attitude with excellent people skills and a good, clear communication style
  • Strong research abilities
  • Teamwork is essential and you will frequently collaborate with colleagues in our overseas offices
  • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
