With a disputes portfolio valued at $14 billion, we have also pioneered the use of arbitration and mediation in commercial, family and, more recently, trust disputes.

The Role

This role will sit in our Los Angeles office.

  • Responsibilities will include all phases of litigation and arbitration.
  • Knowledge of and ability to draft pleadings (complaint and answer), motions, and memoranda of law.  Including conducting relevant legal research.
  • Previous experience handling all phases of discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses to discovery requests, and analysis of information produced in discovery.
  • Ability to take and defend depositions, handle court appearances, and work collaboratively with team members to develop strategies for each case.
  • The role will also involve contributing to the team's profile and undertaking business development activities to establish, develop, and maintain long-term relationships; including, writing articles/posts, attending events/conferences and building networks with private wealth contacts/intermediaries including global and peer firms and counsel.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Strong academic credentials (J.D. required);
  • Between 5 – 7 years of experience practicing in a law firm's litigation group;
  • California Bar membership (in good standing) required;
  • Experience with taking and defending depositions and handling court proceedings;
  • Excellent drafting, writing, research and communication skills;
  • Exposure to sophisticated disputes and investigations (domestic required; international a plus);
  • Strong project management with an ability to balance a large number of competing priorities;
  • Former law clerk experience (preferred);
  • In-depth analytical ability and intellectual curiosity;
  • Attention to detail; and
  • Team Player
  • Compensation commensurate with experience ranging from $250,000 - $285,000.
