Job title: Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager – Global Business Division

Reports to: Head of Marketing & Business Development (EU) with dotted line to divisional leadership

Location: London

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced and highly credible senior manager to drive forward the marketing and business development activity for our business division. The role requires having an in depth understanding of the focus of the division and the wider firm. Based in London, the role will have oversight of strategy across Europe, Asia Pacific and the US, working closely with the divisional management team and the regional teams.

We would expect the successful candidate to develop an in-depth understanding of the firm and to provide strategic input on market profile and execution.

What teams does this role support?

The role supports the firm's business division which includes the following teams: corporate, real estate & construction, intellectual property, charities and banking & finance.  The business division has a particular focus on advising the firm's key client types (internationally-minded private investors and closely-held corporates, family offices, founders, charities and philanthropists) on the deployment/investment of private capital. The successful candidate will need to develop an understanding of what distinguishes the firm from more typical corporate or private client firms and propose creative solutions for marketing and developing profile.

Areas of focus and responsibilities

  • In line with the strategic objective for the global marketing team, a major priority will be working towards improving international and cross-divisional/team integration – both with your marketing colleagues across our offices but also by encouraging your groups to work more effectively internationally.
  • You will have responsibility for all marketing and business development initiatives relating to your groups.   You will work closely with specialists in Digital, PR, Internal Communications, Brand and CRM to deliver support to the groups.  This role is holistic and as such we are looking for someone who has the breadth of experience, from digital marketing through to sales and business development, required to carry out the majority of tasks to execute the group plans yourself.  You'll be happy leading market planning but will also relish rolling your sleeves up to get marketing assets, campaigns and pitches delivered for your teams.
  • You will lead regular business development meetings with the teams and have frequent interaction with the divisional leadership, updating them on how you are implementing the marketing plan, seeking their direction on strategy and prioritisation.
  • You will co-ordinate activities with our other two divisions (Dispute Resolution and Private Client & Tax), ensuring that the firm as a whole presents consistently whilst allowing for divisional differences.
  • You will identify ways to cross sell and spot opportunities for the divisional teams. This will include a high level of collaboration with teams in the other two divisions.
  • You will support a variety of cross practice initiatives including leading in relation to some of the firm's Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The SIGs are geared around sectors or geographic areas of interest. Key sectors for the division are tech and innovation, sport and entertainment, luxury and creatives, hotels and hospitality and financial structures.
  • With your team, you will manage, execute or review legal directory submissions for selected practices in the region.
  • You will have overall responsibility for coordinating the budgets for the division, ensuring that global marketing spend is used effectively in support of the priorities set out in the divisional multi-year plan.
  • You will propose and oversee the execution of a creative strategy for profile and industry focus.
  • You will manage the relationships with external agencies where applicable, in the areas of PR and strategic research.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive.  It is intended to describe the general content of, and requirements for the performance of this job, and as such, the role may also include the undertaking of additional tasks as required.
